You're never too old to learn something new. I believe that and I think it's good to push yourself. Me, I'm chasing the elusive wheelie. I'm starting the 30-day Wheelie Challenge, a program that is written by a fella named Ryan Leech. I started riding bike trials many years ago. With troublesome shoulders these days, I don't play on the trials bike as much or as hard as I'd like, but Ryan Leech is one of those that inspired me to push my limits on a bike all of those years back. I watched many a video of him when learning to pedal kick. I'm trusting him again to teach me to wheelie like a champ!
As kid we naturally play around on our bikes. Jumping curbs, throwing down a big rubber burning skid, and pedaling around on your rear wheel for as long as you can! Somewhere along the way to adulthood it seems some sort of awareness kicks in and all of the sudden it's too far over on the silly-meter to goof around on a bike. Bike trials and mountain bikes will cure you of that! I proudly goof around in front of anyone and everyone. You should do the same. It's good for your skills and your humility!
I can wheelie for several pedal strokes and manual for short distances, but I've never really found that float zone where one the front wheel just effortlessly stays aloft. 30-day challenge...here I come! I'll post some videos of the journey! If you want to join me, check out the link below.
I challenge anyone who might be reading this to get out and try something new. Find something you've always wanted to do and go for it. Bonus points if it involves a bike. Don't forget to tell me about it!
Rider or is it writer?
